Awards
HOL 101 will offer HOL awards to recognize those who excel in this class. Awards offered include...
HOL Explorer Award- This award is given to each student who completes all homework, extra credit, and final assignments for this class. You do not have to get full points to receive this award, but you must attempt them!
HOL Expert Award- This award is given to the top student(s) in each house. They have attempted all the work, and gotten great marks in the class. They are now experts!
HOL Enthusiast Award- This award is given to students at the end of the term who I feel have shown enthusiasm while adjusting to the brand new halls of our school. This may include anything from participating in HOL forum discussions, having a strong presence on public IRC channels (and #orientation), participating in house affairs, or even in this class.

Other Things you Need to Know
Turning things in
All assignment and lessons will be left up for the entire term. Do not start or turn in your homework before the first day of term. I know you want to get a head start, and that is perfectly acceptable, but I will be editing and updating information as it comes until this day. Doing homework before this date risks you to have wrong answers. If you send it in before the term begins, it will not be graded. All assignments are due on the last day of the term at midnight HOL Time. Do not wait until the last day of term to complete your homework! When you're ready to turn your homework in, please send all work to [email protected]. Remember that work with attachments will not be opened, accepted, and therefore graded.
Lesson Layouts
I am including this section due to feedback from former students. In order to give you a complete guide and understanding of all of HOL, these lessons are considered to be very long with complete and total information of all aspects at HOL to help you as you find yourself roaming the halls. I myself have used HOL 101 over the years as a reference guide when answering questions for new students during my time as prefect. Please keep this in mind! Pacing yourself throughout the term will help you get the important information to succeed early on in your HOL career, but will also help you get through the material and set yourself up for success in passing the class.
Class Forum
Information and updates on assignments, extra credit, introductions and all sorts of other things can be found in the class forum here!
IRC Channel
If you are ever on IRC and have a question, whether for HOL 101 or an HOL question in general, best go to the #HOL channel. Please read the section on IRC in Lesson One before logging on, and remember that HOL rules apply while visiting #HOL. There is always someone there to help you out.
Late Assignments
Due to the amount of sign ups this class receives throughout the school term, there will only be one due date located a week or so before the term ends. Because of this, there will NOT be any extensions. Late assignments will not be accepted! Please make sure you get in your work before the due date. I will be less lenient than in the past because you have several months to complete all assignments. As I said before, please do not wait until the last day; it is very difficult to get homework done on time if you do!
Questions? Comments?
If you have any questions or comments about the class, please send me a message through the HOL site, whether it is an Owl/PM/Message. This is the quickest way to get me, as I log onto HOL several times a day. I cannot stress this enough. Also, you can check the Class forum in the HOL Forum to post questions. I will respond as soon as I can.
